Twelve blocks. Twelve little discoveries.
Pick a block, take a chisel, and dig until a stone appears. With 12 separate blocks, you can share the box with a group or let your child work through the collection one find at a time.

Count out the tools. Then pick a block.
Bring a cloth and a cover for the table. A brush, hammer, and digging tray are not included.
Meet all twelve finds.
Use these names to check your collection against the supplied cards. Compare each stone with its card rather than expecting an exact match to every color or pattern in the product photo.

Dig gently. Keep the find.
Place a block on a covered, stable work surface. Keep the cards away from the digging area.
Use the supplied chisel to gently remove the plaster. Clear the material around the stone before lifting it out.
Wipe off the remaining plaster with a cloth, which is not included. Follow the supplied guide for any further cleaning.
Find the matching picture card. Put the stone aside, then clean your tool, work area, and hands.
Find the name that goes with your stone.
Spread out the 12 cards after digging. Start with an obvious feature—a stripe, a pale color, or a patch of purple—and compare it with the pictures.
Place each stone beside its card. If two seem similar, set them side by side and look again before choosing a name.

One block and one tool per child.
For a group of 12, hand out one block and one chisel each. Put the picture cards in the middle so everyone can match a find after digging.
For six children, set aside two blocks each. At home, keep the unopened blocks for another session—there is no need to finish the whole box at once.
Sort them. Then change the rule.
First, arrange the stones by color. Then sort them by visible pattern: stripes, patches, or a more even surface. See which stones move into a different group.
Read the guide before digging.
The package is marked ages 6+. Help younger children set up the work area and use the chisel as shown in the instructions.

A few things worth knowing.

Are there 12 stones in one block?
No. You get 12 separate digging blocks, with one stone hidden in each. You can open them together or save unopened blocks for another day.
Are the blocks made of diamond?
No. The “12 diamonds” wording on the box describes the faceted shape of the digging blocks. It does not mean the kit contains natural diamonds.
Does each child need to share a tool?
There are 12 chisels for 12 blocks. For a group of 12, you can hand out one block and one chisel per child. Keep the cards together until the stones are uncovered.
Are a brush and hammer included?
No. The supplied digging tools are 12 chisels. The box also contains 12 blocks, 12 cards, and one instruction sheet. Bring a cloth and a cover for your work surface.
Can we dig the same block again?
Each block is used up during excavation. Keep the uncovered stone and its card for sorting and comparison afterward.
Choose what happens after the digging.
