Dig, match and count your finds.

Set up each space.

Cover a stable table and give each child a block and digging tool. Use trays you provide to catch loose material. Read the instruction sheet before starting.

Dig around the surprise.

Scrape away the block with the included tool. As a fruit toy appears, work around it carefully to free it.

Find its card.

Clear away loose material and compare the toy with the pictures on the cards. Read the fruit name together.

Sort the collection.

Group the toys by color or shape. Count the finds and match all 12 to their cards.

Before you start

Open the instruction sheet with your child before handing out the tools. Keep snacks and drinks away from the digging area—the waffle blocks and colorful fruit pieces are not food.

For a group, give each child enough room to use their tool. Have a place ready for the finds and a container for the loose digging material.
